MacPPP Add-ons version 2 (3/95)
========================
Ever wish that Mac PPP had normal system 7 3-D icons? Get tired of seeing
that dull MacPPP connection dialog? Then these ResEdit resources are for
you!
Enclosed in this archive are five items:
*This file
*Config PPP icons
*PPP icons
*PPP Dialogs
and, just added...
*Colour Smilies Folder
Config PPP Icons
----------------
This ResEdit file contains all the resources to add color, system 7 "3-D"
icons to the Config Mac PPP cdev.
PPP Icons
---------
This ResEdit file contains all the resources to add color, system 7 "3-D"
icons to the Mac PPP extension.
PPP Dialogs
-----------
This ResEdit file contains all the resources to add a slightly smaller,
centered, connection dialog (with a color icon in it) to MacPPP.
Colour Smilies Folder
=====================
This folder contains all the files needed to add a color "smiley" icon to
the upper left of the Config PPP dialog box. This was inspired by John
Cundall in England. He emailed me with the fixes and they sat in my inbox
for quite a long time (I didn't have a color screen then).
Colour Smilies Icons
--------------------
This ResEdit file contains John's set of colorized "smiley" icons.
Color Hands Icons
-----------------
This ResEdit file contains my set of "hands" icons that I think look
better :).
Colour Smilies README
---------------------
To make Config PPP "see" these icons you have to modify the 'cdev' resource
in the Config PPP file. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE SQUEAMISH! This file
details the hex addresses to be modified.
Color Icon cdev
---------------
This file is for the squeamish. It's a 'cdev' resource for Config PPP
that's already been modified to "see" the color "smiley" icons.
What these are
==============
These are simple ResEdit hacks I (and others) did in a night to spruce up
MacPPP. They are simple and not in any way, shape or form guaranteed not
to bomb the hell out of your Mac. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Usage
-----
Heh heh heh. If I need to tell you how to use ResEdit to patch Macintosh
files then you probably shouldn't be doing it. However, here are some
pointers:
ÑMake a backup first!
ÑBefore you do anything make a backup.
ÑBackups are a good way to begin ResEditing something.
ÑMake sure that there is a copy (a backup) of the file you are working on.
and above all else...
ÑHave a backup handy.
Enjoy...
